Lagosians Express Dissatisfaction with APC Government, Embrace Change – ADC Chairman, Ashiru

The Lagos State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), George Ashiru, has expressed optimism about his party's chances in the 2027 elections, citing widespread dissatisfaction among Lagosians with the current APC government.

In an interview with ISMAEEL UTHMAN, the Lagos State Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), George Ashiru, expressed optimism about his party’s chances in the 2027 elections. According to Ashiru, the current APC government in Lagos State has been met with widespread dissatisfaction among Lagosians, and this has created an opportunity for the ADC to make inroads.

Speaking on the party’s plans, Ashiru said, ‘We are not just planning to win elections; we are planning to change the narrative of governance in Lagos State. Lagosians are tired of the same old faces and the same old promises. They are looking for a change, and we believe we can provide that.’

The ADC chairman also emphasized the need for a more inclusive and participatory approach to governance in the state. ‘We are not just about winning elections; we are about building a government that truly represents the people of Lagos State. We want to create a government that is accountable, transparent, and responsive to the needs of the people.’

It remains unclear how successful the ADC will be in their bid to challenge the APC in Lagos State, but Ashiru’s comments reflect a growing sense of discontent with the current government among Lagosians. According to a recent survey by Premium Times, only 45% of Lagosians are satisfied with the way the APC government is handling issues in the state, while 55% are dissatisfied.

This dissatisfaction could be a significant factor in the 2027 elections, as Lagos State is a crucial battleground in the upcoming elections. With the APC facing a strong challenge from both the PDP and smaller parties like the ADC, the outcome of the elections in Lagos State could have a significant impact on the national political landscape.
