The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has appealed to Nigerian voters to show their patriotism by supporting locally produced goods and services during the upcoming elections. According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, MAN believes that such patronage would not only boost local businesses but also stimulate economic growth in the country.
Speaking at a press conference held on Tuesday, MAN’s President, Farouk Umar, emphasized the importance of buying Nigerian-made products during electioneering periods. He said: ‘Voters have a crucial role to play in promoting locally produced goods and services. By choosing made-in-Nigeria products, they can demonstrate their commitment to developing the domestic economy.’
The association also urged politicians to prioritize local content development in their manifestos and policies. MAN argued that such a focus would encourage sustainable industrial growth, create jobs, and reduce imports.
Umar further stated that supporting Nigerian-made goods was not only an economic imperative but also a matter of national pride. He appealed to voters to make informed decisions by seeking out locally produced products whenever possible.
This call for patronage comes as the country approaches crucial general elections in 2027, during which political parties will vie for voter support with various promises and agendas. The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria hopes that a focus on made-in-Nigeria goods could become a significant factor in shaping voters’ decisions and influencing policy directions.
