Minister Umahi: Flooding Won’t Disrupt Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway

In a move to reassure stakeholders and commuters, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has dismissed concerns about the potential impact of flooding on the much-anticipated Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. According to reports in THISDAYLIVE, Umahi insists that the multi-billion-naira project was deliberately designed and raised above the prevailing flood levels, ensuring its continued operation even during periods of heavy rainfall. With the project expected to significantly improve transportation infrastructure in Nigeria’s southern region, this assurance is a relief for many. The Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is set to span over 1,000 kilometers and connect several key cities, including Calabar, Port Harcourt, and Lagos, reducing travel times and boosting economic growth in the region.
