NAFDAC Addresses Viral List of Alleged Fake Products

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has taken to clarify its stance regarding a viral list circulating on social media, which alleges the presence of fake, adulterated, or substandard products in Nigeria. According to a statement issued by NAFDAC’s Resident Media Consultant, Olusayo Akintola, in Abuja on Thursday, the agency denounces any association with the said list. The statement emphasized that NAFDAC does not have any such list in its possession and encourages Nigerians to verify the authenticity of products before consumption. This clarification comes amidst increasing concerns over the proliferation of counterfeit products in the Nigerian market and the potential health risks associated with them. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is the statutory agency responsible for regulating and ensuring the safety, efficacy, and quality of food, drugs, and cosmetics in Nigeria. Its denouncement of the viral list is aimed at preventing misinformation and protecting consumers’ health.
