NAFDAC Raids Illegal Herbal Medicine Factory in Lagos, Arrests Manager

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has raided an illegal herbal medicine factory in Lagos, arresting its manager. According to reports from Nigeria Info FM and Daily Post Nigeria, the operation followed a tip-off about the illicit activity. The factory was discovered to be producing herbal products with a falsified registration number, raising concerns about the safety and efficacy of the medicines being produced. This is not the first time NAFDAC has cracked down on illegal herbal medicine factories in Lagos. Last year, the agency raided several facilities and seized thousands of counterfeit drugs. The use of counterfeit or poorly manufactured drugs poses a significant risk to public health, as these products often contain harmful substances or inadequate active ingredients. The raid and arrest are part of NAFDAC’s efforts to protect the Nigerian public from such risks. The agency has not yet released further details about the raid or the identity of the arrested manager.
