According to multiple reports from THISDAYLIVE and Vanguard News, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will unveil its National Campaign Council on Monday, following the conclusion of its third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. The announcement comes amidst economic hardship, with 80% of candidates reportedly receiving free nomination forms. The event will also see the presentation of the party’s financial statement.
According to Nigeria Info FM, the meeting was initially scheduled for October 26, but has been rescheduled for Monday due to unspecified reasons.
The NDC has faced criticism over its finances, with reports suggesting that its resources would have been more substantial but for the inability of many of its candidates to pay for nomination forms. The party has yet to comment on these allegations.
The unveiling of the campaign council is a crucial step in the NDC’s preparations for the upcoming elections. The party, which was formed in 2025, is hoping to challenge the incumbent party in the 2027 presidential election.
