New MAN President Tackles Cost Reduction for Nigerian Manufacturers

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has a new president, and he inherits a daunting challenge: to help Nigerian manufacturers cut costs and remain competitive amidst rising production expenses. According to a report in Nigeria Business, this is a pressing issue for local manufacturers, who are struggling to stay afloat due to increasing operational costs.

The new MAN president, who took office last week, has vowed to address the issue head-on. He is expected to implement strategies aimed at reducing production costs, improving productivity, and increasing the competitiveness of Nigerian manufacturers in the global market. However, this will not be an easy task, as the president will have to navigate a complex web of issues, including inadequate infrastructure, high energy costs, and a challenging business environment.

The current economic climate in Nigeria has made it difficult for local manufacturers to thrive. High inflation rates, exchange rate volatility, and a sluggish economy have all contributed to the rising production costs. The new MAN president will have to find innovative solutions to these challenges if he is to succeed in his mission to cut costs and boost the competitiveness of Nigerian manufacturers.

This is a crucial time for the Nigerian manufacturing sector, which plays a significant role in the country’s economy. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the manufacturing sector contributed 9.6% to the country’s GDP in the second quarter of 2026. If the sector is to continue growing, it will require the support and leadership of organizations like MAN, led by a president who is committed to reducing costs and promoting competitiveness.
