The trade relationship between Nigeria and China has reached a significant milestone, surpassing $18bn in the first half of 2026, according to multiple news outlets. Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, commending the efforts of President Tinubu’s administration, highlighted the reforms implemented that contributed to this growth.
The Ambassador’s remarks were made during a meeting with Tinubu, where he expressed China’s continued commitment to strengthening economic ties with Nigeria.
According to the Voice of Nigeria, the trade increase represents a 35% rise compared to the same period in 2025. The sectors benefiting most from this growth include oil and gas, manufacturing, and agriculture.
The deepening cooperation between Nigeria and China is expected to further boost economic development in both countries, creating opportunities for businesses and jobs.
