Nigeria Courts Spanish Investment to Boost its Blue Economy

Nigeria is making strides to bolster its Blue Economy by actively courting Spanish investment at the ongoing CONXEMAR 2926 event. According to reports from multiple Nigerian news sources, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State led a delegation to the international seafood expo and forum in Vigo, Spain, to showcase investment opportunities in Nigeria’s Blue Economy.

The move comes as part of the Nigerian government’s strategy to diversify its economy and unlock the potential of its marine resources. This strategic partnership could lead to increased foreign investment, job creation, and improved infrastructure for the country’s fishing industry.

Governor Ikpeazu expressed his optimism about the potential benefits of this collaboration, stating that Spain has a wealth of experience in the fishing industry that Nigeria can learn from and apply to its own development efforts. He also emphasized the significance of creating a sustainable blue economy that prioritizes environmental conservation alongside economic growth.
