The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has given the Tinubu administration a two-week ultimatum to address the rising cost of petrol and the minimum wage. According to Sahara Reporters, the NLC, in a statement signed by its President, Ayuba Wabba, demanded that the administration reduces the price of petrol and renegotiates the minimum wage to reflect the current economic realities. The NLC stated that the current petrol price of N225 per litre and the minimum wage of N30,000 are unsustainable and have led to widespread poverty and hardship among Nigerians. The labour union also called on the Tinubu administration to prioritize job creation, invest in infrastructure, and improve the overall economic situation in the country. The ultimatum comes amidst growing discontent among Nigerians over the high cost of living and the government’s inability to provide basic amenities. The Tinubu administration has not yet responded to the ultimatum, but it is expected to address the issues raised by the NLC in its forthcoming budget presentation. This development highlights the increasing pressure on the Tinubu administration to address the economic challenges facing the country and to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians.
