Nigeria has secured a $50,000 grant for biodiversity projects at the ongoing Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) in Kunming, China, according to Premium Times Nigeria. The country is among seven nations to win the grant, aimed at supporting national biodiversity projects. This development comes as Nigeria and France push for faster action on the 30×30 biodiversity target, reports Premium Times Nigeria. The 30×30 biodiversity target seeks to protect at least 30% of the world’s land and oceans by 2030. This grant could significantly bolster Nigeria’s efforts to achieve this target, particularly in its bid to protect critical biodiversity hotspots such as the Cross River National Park and the Okapi Wildlife Reserve. This is a promising step towards ensuring the conservation and sustainable use of Nigeria’s rich biodiversity resources. Source: Premium Times Nigeria (https://www.premiumtimesng.com/)
