Nigerian Footballers’ Scoring Streaks: Iheanacho’s Ends, Osimhen, Onuachu, Awoniyi Shine
Kelechi Iheanacho's impressive 12-game scoring streak in Turkey has come to an end. Nigerian strikers Victor Osimhen, Cyriel Dessers, Paul Onuachu, and Taiwo Awoniyi have also been in fine form, setting their own scoring streaks.

Kelechi Iheanacho’s impressive 12-game scoring streak in the Turkish Super Ligue has ended, according to Punch Newspapers. The Super Eagles striker found the back of the net in his last 12 league appearances for his club, Trabzonspor. However, his goal drought has started once again as he failed to score in Trabzonspor’s 2-0 loss to Kasimpasa on Sunday. Despite Iheanacho’s streak ending, there are other Nigerian strikers who have been in fine form. Victor Osimhen, currently plying his trade with Napoli in Italy’s Serie A, has scored in each of his last five league games, a streak that started on October 2nd against Sassuolo. Cyriel Dessers, on loan to Feyenoord from Hertha Berlin, has scored in three consecutive Dutch Eredivisie games, while Paul Onuachu, of Belgian club KRC Genk, has scored in five of his last six league matches. Taiwo Awoniyi, playing for Union Berlin in the German Bundesliga, has scored in his last two league games, extending his streak to three games if you include the Champions League. These Nigerian strikers have been in exceptional form, with Osimhen, Onuachu, and Awoniyi setting their own scoring streaks in different leagues. Iheanacho’s end to his streak may have been disappointing, but Nigerian football fans have plenty to cheer about with the performances of these strikers.
