Oyo 2027: CCII Calls for Issue-Based Campaigns, Decries Name-Calling

The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), a prominent sociocultural group in Oyo State, has urged political actors to focus on issue-based campaigns and refrain from personal attacks as the 2027 elections approach. This call was made in response to growing tensions among Oyo politicians, with accusations of name-calling and lack of substantive debate on critical issues affecting the state.

According to Punch Newspapers, the CCII believes that such unproductive behavior detracts from the important tasks at hand. The group emphasized that it is essential for politicians to engage in meaningful discourse about the challenges facing Oyo State and offer viable solutions.

The CCII’s plea comes amid heightened political activity in the state, with various political parties gearing up for elections in 2027. The group hopes that its call will encourage a more issue-focused and civil campaign season, ultimately benefiting the people of Oyo State.

Punch Newspapers did not indicate whether any political party or individual has responded to the CCII’s call for issue-based campaigns.
