Nigeria’s political landscape heated up this week following a viral video showing supporters of presidential candidate, Peter Obi, booing the All Progressives Congress (APC) in an Abuja market. The video, which has garnered widespread attention, captures the moment Obi’s supporters, predominantly traders, express their displeasure with the APC as they gather at a local market.
Reacting to the video, political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi, expressed his concerns over the escalating tension, stating that such incidents are not conducive for a peaceful and orderly election process.
“I am deeply concerned about the rising political temperature in the country. Incidents like this video serve to heighten tensions and create an environment that is not conducive for a peaceful and orderly election process,” Utomi told EventsNigeria.com in an exclusive interview.
Utomi further called on political parties and their supporters to exercise restraint and maintain peace during the election period, emphasizing the importance of a free, fair, and peaceful election.
The viral video has sparked a nationwide conversation, with many Nigerians expressing their fears over the potential for violence during the upcoming elections.
According to Daily Post Nigeria, the video was recorded on Thursday, October 27, in the Nyanya area of Abuja. The APC has not commented on the incident as of press time.
