In a town hall meeting in Abakaliki, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed doubts about President Bola Tinubu’s ability to govern Nigeria effectively in 2027 due to energy concerns. Obi made these remarks at an NDC stakeholders’ meeting held at the Citi-Hub (source: Vanguard News).
According to Obi, Tinubu should consider stepping down and allowing someone with the necessary energy to lead the country. This statement comes as the 2027 presidential race begins to heat up.
It is worth noting that Tinubu has not yet formally announced his intentions for the 2027 presidency. Obi’s comments, however, suggest that he is positioning himself as a viable alternative.
Editorial notes: Tinubu has not publicly responded to Obi’s comments. The 2027 presidential race is still in its early stages, and it remains to be seen how the major parties will shape up.
