Peter Okoye Testifies to Receiving Over $800,000 in P-Square Royalties
Singer Peter Okoye has testified before a Federal High Court in Lagos that he received over $800,000 in royalties from French music rights organisation SACEM for songs recorded by his former group P-Square.

In a surprising turn of events, singer Peter Okoye, known as Mr P of the defunct music duo P-Square, has testified to receiving over $800,000 in royalties from France-based SACEM for songs recorded by the group. This disclosure was made during a virtual court hearing before Justice Alexander Owoeye of the Federal High Court in Lagos. According to reports from Daily Post Nigeria and Vanguard News, Okoye was being cross-examined by Clement Onwuewunor, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who is representing the claimant in a dispute over royalties from P-Square’s music catalog. The exact nature of the dispute is yet to be clearly established, but it seems to revolve around the distribution of royalties among the members of P-Square.
This revelation by Peter Okoye could have significant implications for the ongoing legal battle and potentially the future of the P-Square brand. The duo, which also includes his brother Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), went on indefinite hiatus in 2016 amidst reports of disputes over royalties and management issues.
As this story unfolds, Nigerian music fans and industry watchers will be eagerly awaiting updates on the legal battle and any potential impact it may have on the future of P-Square’s music catalog.
