Petroleum Marketers Back Nigerian Government’s Push for Increased Gas Supply to Industries

In a move aimed at boosting industrial growth and reducing reliance on fossil fuels for power generation, the Petroleum Marketing Association of Nigeria (PMAN) has thrown its support behind the federal government’s plan to channel more natural gas to the industrial sector. According to reports in LEADERSHIP Newspapers, PMAN believes that this move will not only enhance the competitiveness of Nigerian industries but also create jobs and stimulate economic growth. This decision comes amidst growing concerns over energy security and the need for a sustainable energy mix.
It is worth noting that the industrial sector in Nigeria currently faces significant challenges, with high energy costs being a major impediment to growth. By increasing the supply of natural gas to industries, the government hopes to reduce these costs and make Nigerian industries more competitive on both domestic and international markets. However, it remains unclear how soon this initiative will be implemented or how much of an impact it will have on the industrial sector.
The federal government has been emphasizing the need for a gas revolution in Nigeria, with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, stating that gas would play a pivotal role in the country’s economic recovery and growth plan. It will be interesting to see how this latest move by PMAN aligns with the government’s broader strategy for the gas sector.
