Power Outages Strike Lagos and FCT: Minister Assures Restoration Within 48-72 Hours

The Minister of Power, Mr. Joseph Tegbe, has attributed the ongoing power outages in Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to planned maintenance at Egbin Power Station, gas supply constraints, and sabotage of key transmission lines.

In an unexpected turn of events, residents of Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been hit by power outages, according to reports from multiple sources. The Minister of Power, Mr. Joseph Tegbe, has attributed the ongoing disruptions to planned maintenance at Egbin Power Station, gas supply constraints, and sabotage of key transmission lines. Speaking on the situation, Tegbe said he was aware of the strain being experienced by residents and businesses and promised that the situation would improve within 48-72 hours.

“I understand the inconvenience this is causing, and I want to assure Lagosians and residents of the FCT that the situation will improve very soon,” Tegbe said in a statement.

The power outages have affected several states, including Lagos and the FCT, causing hardship for many. The Minister’s assurance of a quick resolution has brought some relief to those affected, but the question remains as to when the issue will be fully resolved.

According to Premium Times, the Egbin Power Station, which supplies power to Lagos, has been undergoing planned maintenance, leading to the current disruptions. The report also highlighted the issue of gas supply constraints and sabotage of key transmission lines as contributing factors to the power outages.

The FCT Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Muhammad Bello, has also expressed concern over the situation and called on the federal government to address the issue urgently.

The power outages are expected to have a significant impact on the economy, particularly in Lagos, which is Nigeria’s commercial hub. Many businesses have been forced to close or operate on limited power, causing losses and inconvenience for both businesses and residents.
