Presidency Tasks Private Sector for State Police Funding and Implementation Plan

The Nigerian Presidency has challenged the country’s organised private sector to create a detailed funding and implementation plan for the proposed state police system. This call comes as the Presidency seeks to strengthen national security and address growing concerns over insecurity in various parts of the country. According to a report by Tribune Online, the Presidency has been engaging with key stakeholders within the private sector to discuss potential sources of funding and strategies for implementing the state police system. The move is aimed at reducing the financial burden on the federal government and enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the security apparatus. While the Presidency has not yet released an official statement regarding the timeline for the implementation of this proposal, the call to action from the Presidency highlights the growing urgency to address the security challenges facing Nigeria. The private sector’s involvement in funding and implementing the state police system is expected to bring much-needed expertise and resources to the table, as well as promote accountability and transparency in the management of the new security force.
