The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) has called for collaboration among specialised branches of the profession to strengthen pharmacy practice in Nigeria, THISDAYLIVE reports. According to the report published on October 24, 2026, the society made this call ahead of its 99th Annual National Conference, slated for later this year. The need for collaboration among various specialised branches of pharmacy was emphasised as crucial to addressing the numerous challenges facing the profession in the country. The PSN, being the umbrella body for pharmacists in Nigeria, has been at the forefront of advocating for improved pharmacy practice and patient care. However, the society recognises the need for collaboration among various specialised branches to tackle the complex issues facing the profession. The challenges range from inadequate infrastructure, lack of funding, and insufficient manpower, to poor regulatory framework and unethical practices by some practitioners. The PSN’s call for collaboration among specialised branches of pharmacy is a timely intervention, as the profession grapples with these challenges. The collaboration is expected to foster knowledge sharing, improve service delivery, and enhance patient care. The PSN’s Annual National Conference provides an ideal platform for this collaboration, as it brings together pharmacists from various specialised branches and stakeholders in the pharmaceutical sector.
