Russia sent a clear warning to the Super Eagles ahead of their clash on Tuesday, with a dominating 6-0 victory over Namibia in an international friendly held in Yekaterinburg on Saturday. According to Daily Post Nigeria, although the first half ended with only one goal, Russia went into overdrive after the break, scoring five more times.
Lechi Sadulaev opened the scoring in the 37th minute of the match. The post-break onslaught saw Aleksandr Golovin and Artem Dzyuba adding two goals each, while Magomed Atayev and Roman Zobnin scored one apiece. This impressive display comes as Nigeria prepares to face Russia, with both teams vying for a spot in the 2026 World Cup.
However, it’s not all good news for Nigeria as several key players are expected to be absent due to injuries, club restrictions and travel documentation issues. Premium Times Nigeria reported that only 18 players will be available for training in Nizhny Novgorod on Sunday.
