TCN Accuses Ikeja Electric of Misleading Customers over Lagos Power Outages
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has accused Ikeja Electric of misleading customers over the recent power outages in Lagos.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) accused Ikeja Electric of misleading customers over the recent power outages in Lagos. According to TCN, the power disruptions were a result of technical issues within the transmission network, and not a lack of power supply as claimed by Ikeja Electric. The TCN stated that the power distribution company had failed to inform customers of the planned outages, causing inconvenience and confusion. The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has been urged to investigate the matter. This is not the first time Ikeja Electric has been accused of misleading customers over power outages. In 2021, the company was fined by NERC for similar offenses. The power supply situation in Lagos has been a cause of concern for residents and businesses, with many complaining of frequent power outages and poor service from the distribution companies. The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) recently called on the government to address the power supply issues in the state to boost economic growth.
