The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a six-hour power outage in several parts of Abuja starting today, according to multiple reports. The affected areas include Wuse, Central Business District (CBD), Jabi, Utako, and other parts of the Federal Capital Territory. This planned maintenance is set to affect power supply for approximately six hours, though TCN has not yet disclosed the specific start and end times.
The announcement follows a separate report last night that TCN will be shutting down the Kukwaba transmission substation for six hours of maintenance as well. The blackout is expected to cause inconvenience for residents and businesses in the affected areas, but TCN says it is necessary to maintain the integrity of the national grid.
While the TCN has not responded to requests for comment on this latest announcement, it is not uncommon for such maintenance outages to occur during peak hours or with little notice. Last month, a similar power outage affected areas including Maitama, Garki, and Wuse. As always, Nigerians are advised to stay informed and be prepared for unexpected disruptions in their electricity supply.
