Amnesty International has accused the Lagos State Government of displacing over 50,000 residents and destroying approximately 5,000 homes in the course of demolitions in Makoko, Oworonshoki, and Mile 12, as reported by Punch Newspapers (source). The human rights organization called on the government to provide adequate support for the displaced residents, including housing, healthcare, and livelihood assistance.
The report comes amidst growing concerns about the government’s handling of urban development and housing issues in Lagos, a city grappling with rapid population growth and inadequate infrastructure.
