In a move to prevent the spread of Ebola, the Federal Government has ordered tighter screening protocols at all points of entry into Nigeria. According to reports from Punch Newspapers, Premium Times Nigeria, and Daily Post Nigeria, the directive follows concerns raised by the Office of the National Security Adviser over potential breaches of the established Ebola entry protocols. The Ministry of Health has confirmed the new measures, stating that they are designed to ensure strict adherence to the approved Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, entry protocols at all designated points of entry into Nigeria. The Federal Government’s decision comes as a preventive measure, as the Ebola virus remains a public health concern in some African countries. This development is significant for Nigerian residents and travelers, as it aims to safeguard the country’s health and security. While the Federal Government has not provided a specific timeline for the implementation of these measures, it is expected that they will be enforced immediately at all major airports, seaports, and land borders.
