Wike Addresses Rumors on Governor Fubara’s Political Future after Rivers Crisis

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed rumors that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, lost his political future following the protracted face-off between him and his predecessor.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has sought to allay fears about the political future of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, following the crisis that erupted between him and his predecessor. According to Daily Post Nigeria, Wike spoke in Abuja during his monthly media chat with selected journalists on Thursday, stating that the governor is still very much in the political game.

Wike’s comments come amidst widespread speculation that Fubara’s political career might have been adversely affected by the protracted face-off with his predecessor. However, Wike insisted that the governor remains a formidable force in Rivers politics.

The exact nature of the crisis between Fubara and his predecessor is not yet clear. While both leaders have maintained a public show of unity, there have been whispers of discord behind the scenes. The crisis has raised concerns about the stability of Rivers politics, particularly given the importance of the state in the national political landscape.

The assurance from Wike, a key political ally of Fubara, may go some way towards alleviating these concerns. However, it remains to be seen whether the governor will be able to weather the political storm and maintain his grip on power in the long term.
