Yahaya Bello Sets Sights on 2 Million Votes for Tinubu in Kano by 2027
Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the 500,000 votes President Bola Tinubu received in Kano State during the 2023 presidential election, and is challenging the Yoruba and other ethnic communities to consolidate their political participation and work towards securing 2 million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 election.

In a statement made on October 31, 2026, former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, expressed his dissatisfaction with the 500,000 votes President Bola Tinubu received in Kano State during the 2023 presidential election. According to Daily Post Nigeria, Bello argued that the voting strength of non-indigenous communities in the state should not be underestimated and challenged the Yoruba and other ethnic communities to consolidate their political participation and work towards securing 2 million votes for Tinubu in the 2027 election. It is unclear if Bello has any official role in the 2027 election campaign, but his statement indicates a continued interest in supporting Tinubu’s political ambitions. The statement comes as Tinubu prepares for the 2027 presidential election, and as he looks to solidify support from various ethnic communities across Nigeria. This strategy is not new for Tinubu, as he has historically relied on a broad coalition of supporters to secure political victories.
