Any Nigerian that’s not lazy will have food on the table – Yari

In a recent statement, former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdul'aziz Yari, asserted that any Nigerian who is not lazy will have food on their table.

Former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Yari, has made bold statements about food security in Nigeria. In a recent interview, Yari, who served as governor from 2011 to 2019, asserted that any Nigerian who is not lazy will have food on their table.

According to Vanguard News, Yari said, If there’s no food in the market, that’s what we are calling hunger. But anyone who is not a lazy person, definitely he would have food on his table.

Yari’s comments come amidst ongoing concerns about food security in Nigeria, a country that is home to the world’s highest number of people suffering from hunger.

The former governor’s assertion that hard work can guarantee food access is a sentiment that may resonate with many Nigerians, particularly in the face of economic challenges and insecurity. However, it remains to be seen whether Yari’s words will translate into tangible action and solutions to address the country’s food security concerns.

According to the United Nations, Nigeria is home to 8.9 million people who are chronically undernourished. The country’s food security challenges are compounded by factors such as climate change, conflict, and economic instability.

Yari’s comments were made during a panel discussion on the sidelines of the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland. The conference focused on addressing climate change and its impact on the world’s most vulnerable populations.
