Yobe Airport Reimbursement Approved by House Committee

In a significant development for the aviation sector in Nigeria, the House of Representatives Committee on Aids, Loans and Debt Management has recommended approval of a ₦100.5 billion promissory note programme to reimburse the Yobe State Government for constructing the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Damaturu. According to the Vanguard News, the proposed reimbursement amounts to ₦100,509,017,234.55, following the Federal Government’s decision to take over the airport operations. The reimbursement, if approved, will mark a significant step towards addressing the infrastructure deficit in Nigeria’s aviation sector. This development underscores the government’s commitment to investing in critical infrastructure projects across the country. The report is a reminder of the potential role that public-private partnerships can play in driving economic growth and job creation in Nigeria.
