Amidst a surge in Diphtheria cases across Nigeria, Benue State has escalated its health surveillance and emergency preparedness measures. According to Dr Paul Ogwuche, Commissioner for Health and Human Services in Benue, though no confirmed cases have been reported within the state, they are taking preventive steps due to the increasing number of instances nationwide. This move comes as a response to the growing concern over Diphtheria outbreaks in various parts of the country. The Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) has not released an official statement regarding the rise in cases, but reports suggest that states like Kaduna and Oyo have recorded confirmed instances.
