On Wednesday, September 21st, the government of Kogi State announced a three-day mourning period following the death of its former governor, Ibrahim Idris. According to Premium Times Nigeria, this decision was made after the passing of Idris, who served as governor from 2019 to 2023.
‘The state has lost a dear leader and father figure,’ said current Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo in a statement released today. ‘We join the family of late Ibrahim Idris in mourning his passing.’
During his tenure as governor, Idris was noted for his efforts in infrastructure development and social welfare programmes. THISDAYLIVE reports that he will be buried on Friday at his hometown in Okene.
