On Friday, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) announced that it would be halting electricity supply in Wuse, Utako, Jabi, and other key Abuja areas for six hours. According to Punch Newspapers, the outage is due to the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s (TCN) preventive maintenance on a transformer.
This development has raised concerns among residents and businesses in these affected areas, as power outages can disrupt daily activities and productivity. The AEDC has not yet said when the facility began operating or if this is a regular occurrence.
‘Endless electricity challenges’ have long plagued Nigeria, according to Punch Newspapers. Last month, the newspaper published an article detailing the country’s ongoing struggles with power outages and the need for sustainable solutions. The six-hour maintenance in Abuja is a stark reminder of the persistent issue.
