According to Punch Newspapers, Super Falcons defender, Osinachi Ohale, has retired from international football following a successful 16-year stint with Nigeria’s women’s national team. The exact reason for her decision remains unclear.
Ohale made her debut for the Super Falcons in 2006 and went on to represent Nigeria at three Africa Women Cup of Nations tournaments, winning the title twice (2010 and 2014). She also featured in the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Her retirement marks the end of an illustrious career during which she established herself as a key player for both club and country. The 35-year-old defender currently plays her club football for Spanish side, Levante UD Femenino.
Fellow players and fans have paid tribute to Ohale on social media, expressing their appreciation for her contributions to Nigerian football. The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has yet to comment on her retirement.
