According to THISDAYLIVE, the ruling party is finding it increasingly difficult to manipulate elections under the watchful eye of these platforms, which are designed to ensure a transparent and fair electoral process.
The platform in question, Transparent Elections Nigeria (TEN), has been instrumental in exposing various irregularities during the recent local government elections. These findings have been widely publicized and have raised concerns about the integrity of the ruling party’s election processes.
However, TEN is not the only organization involved in this fight for transparency. Other civil society groups such as YIAGA Africa and the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD) have also been actively monitoring elections and advocating for electoral reforms.
This development has not gone unnoticed by the ruling party, which has reportedly responded with a series of threats and intimidation tactics against these organizations and their staff. According to YIAGA Africa’s Executive Director, Samson Itodo, his organization has received numerous death threats due to its work in monitoring elections.
