A Nigerian researcher, Chika Onochie, has clinched a CAD $100,000 grant for his doctoral study on new biomarkers to assess male fertility at McGill University in Québec, Canada.
According to Punch Newspapers, the grant will support Onochie’s research into addressing the increasing global challenges faced by men trying to conceive, particularly in developing countries like Nigeria.
The study aims to identify new biomarkers for male fertility, which could lead to improved diagnostic tools and treatments. The research could potentially benefit millions of couples struggling with infertility worldwide.
Onochie’s work is part of a larger trend of Nigerian researchers making their mark on the global scientific stage. Last year, another Nigerian researcher, Dr. Oluyinka O. Olutoye, made headlines when he was appointed Dean for the University of Virginia School of Medicine.
