A court order appointing a temporary receiver for a disputed property in Victoria Island, Lagos, linked to Maryam Abacha – the daughter of former military dictator General Sani Abacha – has been issued by the Federal High Court. According to Premium Times Nigeria, the judge made the decision on October 2, 2026, in a suit filed by Mrs. Abacha herself.
The property is located at No. 68 Molade Okoya Thomas Street, off Ajose Adeogun Road, and was reportedly the subject of a dispute between Maryam Abacha and some local businessmen. The post on Premium Times Nigeria did not specify who these businessmen are or what their claims against Mrs. Abacha are.
The court order appoints a receiver to manage the property temporarily, pending further hearings and a final determination of ownership. THISDAYLIVE also reported on the story, adding that the receiver’s appointment will ensure the preservation of the property while the dispute is resolved. However, neither source has reported when the dispute began or why it has yet to be resolved.
Maryam Abacha is the daughter of former military ruler Sani Abacha, who ruled Nigeria from 1993 until his death in 1998. Since his death, there have been numerous investigations and legal battles over his extensive wealth and assets, much of which was stashed abroad during his regime.
