On Tuesday, a dramatic scene unfolded at the Anambra State High Court in Awka as suspected supporters and church members of Pastor Harrison Anazodo, the General Overseer of Dayspring Assembly, Awada-Obosi, physically confronted journalists and cameramen. The altercation took place as these individuals attempted to smuggle the pastor, who was arrested on allegations of marrying 75 wives, out of sight. According to Daily Post Nigeria, the clash occurred during a court hearing for Anazodo’s case (). The exact motivations behind the supporters’ actions are not yet clear, but it is known that they were trying to prevent the pastor from being captured by journalists. The incident serves as a reminder of the complex relationship between religious leaders, their followers, and media scrutiny in Nigeria. In recent years, cases of pastors engaging in polygamous marriages have been reported, leading to public outrage and calls for accountability.
