TUC Urges FG to Adopt N800 to $1 Exchange Rate to Lower Fuel Prices

In a recent press conference held in Abuja, the President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Festus Osifo, urged the Federal Government to take immediate action to secure the welfare of Nigerian citizens. One of the key recommendations made by Osifo was for the government to strengthen the economy by adopting a more favorable exchange rate. According to Osifo, the current exchange rate of N410 to $1 has contributed significantly to the high cost of petrol, a burden that ultimately falls on the shoulders of Nigerian consumers.

Osifo suggested that the government should consider adopting an exchange rate of N800 to $1, a move that he believes would help lower the cost of petrol and ease the financial burden on citizens. This call comes at a time when fuel prices have risen sharply, causing widespread concern among Nigerians.

While the Federal Government has not yet responded to this recommendation, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) remains hopeful that their concerns will be taken seriously. As the cost of living continues to rise in Nigeria, many citizens are struggling to make ends meet. The TUC’s call for a more favorable exchange rate is a step towards addressing these concerns and securing a better future for all Nigerians.
