Dangote Aims for 1.4 Million Barrels Daily Refining Capacity by 2029

Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Industries Limited, has announced plans to boost the refining capacity of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2029. According to reports in THISDAYLIVE and Vanguard News, the company aims to increase its current 500,000 barrels per day capacity. The expansion is expected to provide opportunities for small investors, with the company assuring that they will be accommodated in the ongoing initial public offering (IPO). However, a report in Nigeria Communications Week suggests that the Federal Government may lack the capacity to supply the refinery with enough crude oil. This development comes at a time when Nigeria is grappling with issues of fuel scarcity and increasing prices of petroleum products.
