In a move that raises concerns over the rule of law, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been urged to investigate allegations that its personnel assaulted court officials and prevented them from enforcing a judgment in a property dispute in Jabi, Abuja. The call was made by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Musa Yakubu, in a statement issued on Thursday, following a complaint dated September 28, 2026, by Professor Abubakar [names withheld for privacy].
According to reports, the dispute centers around a property owned by the NAF, which was reportedly reclaimed by the claimants despite a court ruling in favor of the force. The alleged assault on court officials is said to have occurred when the NAF attempted to repossess the property.
Yakubu’s statement read, in part: ‘We have written to the NAF to express our displeasure at the unlawful act, and to demand that they immediately reverse the illegal repossession of the property.
‘The NAF has a duty to respect the rule of law and to uphold the integrity of our justice system. We urge them to act swiftly to ensure that justice is served and that the perpetrators of this unlawful act are brought to book.’
The NAF has not yet responded to the allegations or indicated when it might launch an investigation. This incident highlights the need for the Nigerian Air Force to uphold the rule of law and respect the judicial process in all its dealings.
