A 15-member team from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has arrived Nigeria today, Friday, October 16, for a final inspection of facilities ahead of the General Assembly and Awards. According to multiple Nigerian news outlets, the team, which was dispatched to assess the readiness of the country to host the event, arrived Nigeria following an earlier visit in September. The specific facilities being inspected have not been disclosed, but it is understood that they are crucial to the successful hosting of the General Assembly and Awards. This development comes as Nigeria continues to make preparations for the event, which is set to take place later this year. The CAF Awards ceremony, which recognises the best footballers, coaches, and teams across the continent, is scheduled to take place on November 3. The General Assembly, on the other hand, is a key meeting where crucial decisions are made regarding African football. This year’s assembly is expected to focus on a variety of issues, including the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, the 2028 African Nations Championship, and the 2027 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. The CAF has not yet disclosed when the inspection team began its inspection or how long it will take. The team’s visit is a significant indication of Nigeria’s commitment to hosting the General Assembly and Awards.
