The Abuja Festival of Literature and Ideas (AFLI) is preparing for a unique edition this year, according to its founder, Lola Shoneyin. In an interview with The News Nigeria, Shoneyin shared her vision for the event, which is scheduled to take place on October 9 and 10.
‘This year’s AFLI will be different,’ Shoneyin said. ‘We are focusing on creating a more interactive and engaging experience for our attendees.’ She added that they are working towards incorporating technology to facilitate discussions, workshops, and performances.
The AFLI, which was first held in 2018, is an annual event that brings together writers, thinkers, and artists from across Africa and beyond.
‘We have always aimed to provide a platform for intellectual discourse and creative expression,’ Shoneyin explained. ‘This year, we are taking it a step further by making the festival more accessible and interactive.’
The exact details of how the technology will be integrated into the event remain unclear, as Shoneyin did not go into specifics.
The AFLI is just one of many cultural events happening in Abuja this season. Last week, The Guardian Nigeria News reported that the city’s first-ever jazz festival would take place on October 2.
