Presidency Disputes Makinde’s Claim on NLNG Dividends for States

The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, made headlines recently with his claim that the Federal Government is withholding N250 billion in NLNG (Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas) dividends for each state. However, the Presidency has disputed this claim, according to reports by Tribune Online and Google News. The Presidency, through its spokesperson, Garba Shehu, stated that the claim is false and misleading. According to Shehu, the NLNG is a commercial entity, and the dividends it pays are based on its profitability and not tied to any specific amount per state. This dispute highlights the ongoing debate about the management and distribution of Nigeria’s oil and gas revenues. The Oyo State Government has, however, stood by its claim and demanded accountability from the Federal Government, as reported by Tribune Online.
