FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup: Four African Countries Reach Round of 16

Four African countries have secured their spots in the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco. According to Daily Post Nigeria, Kenya was the latest African team to progress, having defeated Samoa 4-0 in their final group game on Sunday evening. The other qualifying African countries are Nigeria, Ghana, and host nation Morocco. While Vanguard News reports that three African countries have qualified, their list includes only Nigeria, Ghana, and Morocco, omitting Kenya.

The success of these African teams reflects the growing strength of women’s football on the continent. This year’s tournament, the eighth edition of the Under-17 Women’s World Cup, has seen 16 teams compete for the title, with matches taking place from October 2 to 29.

According to the FIFA website, the Round of 16 matches will be played on October 30 and 31, with the quarterfinals scheduled for November 2 and 3. The semi-finals will take place on November 5, followed by the third-place playoff and the final on November 7.
