Court Remands Man Accused of Threatening to Publish Nude Images of Kano Governor

According to a report by Tribune Online, a Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of a man, Sanusi Dankaka, at the Kuje Correctional Centre for allegedly threatening to publish nude videos of Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf. Dankaka was arraigned before Justice Inyang Ekwo on a one-count charge of cyberstalking and threatening to distribute intimate images without consent. The prosecutor, Aminu Alilu, told the court that Dankaka had threatened to publish nude videos of the governor on social media if his demands were not met. The court ordered Dankaka to be remanded in custody pending the outcome of investigations. The story highlights the increasing use of social media as a tool for blackmail and cyberstalking in Nigeria. This trend, if unchecked, could pose a significant threat to public figures and their privacy.
