UK Announces $1,200 Tuition Fee for Nigerian Students from 2028

The UK government has announced plans to charge universities a fee of $1,200 per Nigerian and foreign student from 2028. According to Vanguard News, this policy was first outlined in the UK’s 2025 budget and reaffirmed by Education Minister Josh MacAlister. The revenue generated is intended to support England’s higher education and skills system. This development comes as many Nigerian students seek opportunities for higher education abroad, and could potentially impact the number of Nigerian students studying in the UK. The impact on other foreign students is yet to be fully understood.
