The Minister of Power, Engr. Saleh Mamman Tegbe, has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap aimed at addressing constraints across generation, transmission, and distribution to stabilise Nigeria’s power grid. The announcement was made at the Energy Summit 2026 flag-off ceremony, held in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city. According to Nigeria Business, the roadmap includes measures to boost power generation capacity, improve the efficiency of the national grid, and streamline distribution networks to reduce energy loss.
‘This roadmap is a critical step towards our goal of achieving a reliable, sustainable, and affordable electricity supply for all Nigerians,’ Tegbe said at the event. The Minister also revealed plans to invest in renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, to diversify the country’s energy mix and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The Energy Summit 2026 is a collaborative initiative by the Federal Ministry of Power and other stakeholders, including the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), and the Electric Power Sector Reform Program (EPSRP). According to Tribune Online, the event aims to bring together experts, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss strategies for improving Nigeria’s power sector and achieving energy security.
The power sector has been a significant challenge for Nigeria, with frequent outages and a high cost of electricity impacting businesses and households alike. Tegbe’s roadmap and the Energy Summit 2026 are part of the government’s efforts to address these issues and improve the country’s energy infrastructure.
