Kwankwaso Jumps on TikTok: ‘Follow for Authentic Updates’

In a move that could signal a shift in political communication, former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has joined TikTok. According to Punch Newspapers, Kwankwaso, a key player in Nigerian politics, is now using the popular social media platform to reach out to Nigerians.

In an apparent bid to connect with the youth, Kwankwaso, who has a significant following among younger voters, urged Nigerians to follow him for ‘authentic information and exclusive content’.

This move comes amidst a surge in political activity on TikTok, with several politicians and political parties leveraging the platform to reach out to young voters. However, it is unclear if Kwankwaso will be using TikTok for campaigning ahead of the 2027 elections.

Kwankwaso’s decision to join TikTok could be seen as a response to the changing landscape of political communication. With the youth becoming a more influential voting bloc, politicians are increasingly turning to social media to reach out to them.
