President Bola Tinubu has defended the government’s recent borrowing plans, stating that the investments made will expand opportunities for future generations. According to reports by THISDAYLIVE and Vanguard News, the President wrote an essay titled ‘From reforms to delivery: Our infrastructure investment and growth strategy’, which will be published on various Nigerian news platforms. In the essay, Tinubu addressed the criticism, particularly from opposition leaders, over the new loans the country has accessed from international institutions and banks. The President argued that the focus should not be on the borrowing, but on the successful implementation of the projects and the resulting employment opportunities and improved living standards. The exact amount borrowed and the specific projects these funds will be allocated to have not been disclosed. This move comes as the government continues to face criticism for its handling of the economy, with many Nigerians concerned about the rising debt levels and their impact on the overall financial health of the country.
