US Congressman Riley Moore: Trump Made Right Decision in Designating Nigeria as Country of Particular Concern

In a statement, US Congressman Riley Moore has lauded President Donald Trump's decision to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) last year, expressing concerns about the persecution of Christians in Nigeria and globally.

In a statement issued recently, United States Congressman Riley Moore has commended President Donald Trump for designating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) a year ago. The congressman, who represents a district in the state of [X], raised the alarm over the continued persecution of Christians in Nigeria and around the world.

According to Daily Post Nigeria, Moore’s statement came on the heels of reports of increased violence against Christians in Nigeria, especially in the Middle Belt region. The congressman, who has been vocal about religious freedom issues, said he believes Trump made the right decision in designating Nigeria as a CPC, a move that would put pressure on the Nigerian government to address the issue.

‘I commend President Trump for his decision to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern. This is a significant step towards holding the Nigerian government accountable for its failure to protect the religious freedom of its citizens, particularly Christians,’ Moore said.

The CPC designation, which was announced in 2025, implies that the US government believes the Nigerian government has been complicit in or unable to prevent egregious religious freedom violations in the country.
